Cheryl Shaw and her teenage daughter Tessa were sick of being overweight. The 50-year-old single mother had had enough of the lifestyle that created her weight gain, and worried that she was leading her daughter down a similar path. So they teamed up and took the 100-day challenge, in which they aimed to eat healthy and exercise each day. They were inspired by the popular weight loss website GiveIt100, where users upload clips of themselves exercising every day for 100 days. Cheryl and Tessa acted as one another’s supporter and motivator, pushing each other through grueling work outs and ensuring that they only ate healthy foods. “Support is definitely key for Tessa and me, as it is with a lot of other people going through their own weight-loss journeys,” Cheryl said in an interview with Women’s Health Magazine.
While it wasn’t easy for the mother-daughter duo to completely and abruptly change their lifestyle, it was worth it. In just 100 days, they lost a whopping 74 pounds between them.
