Cat makes incredible recovery after being severely burned in fire — now she’s up for adoption

A cat who was severely burned in a fire has made a miraculous recovery — and is now looking for a new home.

Back in April, a 7-month-old stray domestic shorthaired cat named Libby suffered severe burns in a fire in Downtown Phoenix, the Arizona Humane Society wrote in a press release.

The poor cat sustained burns on her paw pads, ears and nose, and reportedly had melted plastic all over her body and singed hair and whiskers.

She was transferred from a local emergency clinic to AHS’ trauma hospital, where she began her road to recovery. Libby received subcutaneous fluids, antibiotic and pain medications. Her wounds were treated and she was also observed for possible respiratory damage due to smoke inhalation.

After a month of treatment, she was placed in a foster home, and continued her healing process, receiving numerous medical procedures.

But after months of recovery, Libby, now 11 months old, has healed up well enough that she can be placed up for adoption, and has begun looking for her forever home.

Libby is available at the Arizona Humane Society’s South Mountain Campus, and anyone interested in adopting can visit their adoption website. All AHS adoption fees are just $20 through the end of the month, thanks to an “Empty the Shelters Adoption Event” sponsored by the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

We’re so glad Libby has made such an amazing recovery and hope she finds her forever home soon! Thank you to everyone who cared for her!
