Langford wanted to encourage her fifth grade students before they took their exams. She emphasized how the results of the tests are “worth so much more than just a test grade.” Langford explains that the messages are a result of her belief in the “growth mindset,” which is the belief that abilities “aren’t necessarily innate and can actually be developed through hard work and effort rather than just innately.”
