I love how DIYs allow you to breathe new life into old things.
Garage sales and flea markets are full of interesting items from the past that sometimes might just need a bit more love, like this old sleigh from the 1900s that was transformed into a beautiful lounge.
DIY projects can be magical like that, taking something old and worn down, and with a bit of imagination and some work, making it beautiful again.
That’s what this Imgur user did after she found a beat-up 1920s sewing machine at a flea market.
After letting it sit in her own garage collecting dust for a few years, she finally refurbished it, adding an extra, beautiful artistic flair that brought out even more personality.
Scroll through the photos to see just how gorgeous the sewing table turned out.

She started off by sanding down the wood of the sewing table.

————————————————————————————————————–
She sanded down the wood around the sewing machine as well.

————————————————————————————————————–
She then found artwork on the internet from 20th-century artist Alphonse Mucha.

————————————————————————————————————–
Using that image as her guide, she copied the artwork onto the lid of the sewing table.

————————————————————————————————————–
She used a Sharpie marker to copy the lines onto the lid.

————————————————————————————————————–
She then used watercolors to paint in the flowers.

————————————————————————————————————–
For the face, she used watered-down acrylic paint so it would stand out more.

————————————————————————————————————–
She covered the artwork with three coats of acrylic.

————————————————————————————————————–
The rest of the sewing table was made shiny and new with three coats of acrylic as well.

————————————————————————————————————–
And voilà! The finished product.

————————————————————————————————————–
As the cherry on top, the sewing machine still functions!

————————————————————————————————————–
It looks like it just sprang right out of the 1920s!

————————————————————————————————————–
But with its art deco lid, the old sewing machine now has a personality all its own.

————————————————————————————————————–
It seems she’s not the only one happily admiring her new furniture addition!

————————————————————————————————————–
It shines beautifully under her home’s warm spotlights.

With a little love and care, what was once a discarded antique is now a functional and beautiful home accent.
